Caring for Chinese candidates for hire is an important topic that gets little press. Let me here put a spot light on it.
Most of us have been looking for work at some time in our lives. It can be a very stressful and troublesome time.
We deal with Chinese candidates all the time. Like us, they do not like to check the mail and see that the hiring manager has not followed up.
Hiring managers have a day job and recruiting adds to that. They are busy. Candidates need attention, and thus the first puzzle. Sending a quick email to them or even to the recruiter saying you are out of pocket next week is very much appreciated. It is import to not let a week go by without news. This is hard to do, but so useful. Candidates are not like after market parts. You cannot just leave them on the shelf.
Caring for Chinese Candidates Is Worth the Effort
They find other work, and worse yet, they get frustrated at waiting. We all hope they can adjust their attitude and they do, but there is a real cost. We lose their passion and engagement when we draw things out. Inevitably, they talk to their friends in your industry. It is critical to your future hiring that they have something good to say. Being kind in the interview is useful, but being timely and attentive is also critical.
You do not want to wear people out in the process, so that they arrive at your door exhausted and doubtful of your system.
Therefore, do your level best to keep communicating and process as fast as you can. It serves you well to treat candidates like you would want to be treated. SHI Group is always as transparent with both sides as we can be. Communication and alacrity are so valuable. Let’s do this heavy lifting.
