Another for the Market – People Spend For Their Kids

Now once again, we all do this, but in China it is more pronounced.  People do not marry for marriage. They marry for the kid coming from that marriage. The get clarinet lessons for the kid. They buy a house so their kid will come home after college. From big to small, the market is being driven by the desire to see their kids give them face.

So yesterday we said people really like status symbols in China and today we are noting that kids are the biggest status symbol of all. It is hard for kids to live under this pressure, so low self esteem is passed on this way azs is the ‘face’ market.

So find a way to connect your product with the success or health or ambition of a kid (actually the ambition is the parents), and you will find a market there that could be chased.
