Coach K and China Hiring
Being a West Point graduate, I cannot help but notice Coach Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K). I do not write today because he won 5 National Championships and 6 Gold Medals as a coach. At the end of his final season, I want to talk about a guy who created a dynasty commonly of no name players. His dominating teams have produced few super famous professional athletes. Let’s talk about Coach K and China hiring to make a better team for you here.
His leadership ability is phenomenal. He succeeds because he avoids the fancy and famous players, but gets the people who will put the team first every day. Look at some of his quotes:
We win and lose together. Handling the responsibility for wins and losses together removes the burden from the individual’s shoulders. and distributes it among each member of the team. That atmosphere is conducive to high-level performance and places you and your team in the position to be bold and unafraid, and if you should lose, you are not alone.
Your organization in China needs a leader who has done that and can do that. Saying this word to team members does not make it real for them.
You must remember that no group or individual is the same as who you taught the day before.
This so great. Not only do different teams need different coaching. The same person in the next day may need different coaching. See the person.

Any doubt why he can win?
One last great story, is in 1994-95, he had to stop coaching during the season due to severe back pain. He says that experience taught him to not do everything himself and spread the load. Great leaders keep learning and keep getting better and can even talk openly about their failure.
