Out of the Box Leadership

Greetings,  today I want to write on being a learner.  As leaders, we can get pretty self satisfied.

I saw a blog today by Justin Pennington as he was leaving as Director, Global Supply Chain Strategy at Dell and going to Deutsche Bank as Vice President, Strategic Cost & Consumption Management.  He wrote as to what he took away from Dell.  Really a valuable blog and pretty short that you can see here.

He mentioned foremost that learning from all was a key to his success. He could recognize his own subjective limitations and get out of the box by bringing other people and organizations in.  He was absolutely  better than many people he was connecting with, but he knew he could get their comparative advantage.   His success was that he did not do it all on his own and wanted to say that. He gathered in stakeholders from everywhere he could find.

It is a good word that I needed to hear and so pass on.
